Many Native people moved directly from their home communities, while others came from various cities, were processed through federal agencies, or came directly from Indian boarding schools. At present, the vast majority of the data on this map comes from federal relocation records. However, like all aspects of the Indigenous Chicago project, this map is an ongoing initiative. We will continue to update the data as we complete or are directed to additional research.
